(W)right On Communications, Inc. is wholly owned by Julie Wright, President & Founder of the Company in 1998, and Grant Wright who became CEO & Managing Partner in 2004. Supported by staff experienced in a variety of industries and skilled in all aspects of communication production management, (W)right On's "can-do" team remains nimble, responsive and always focused on ensuring  clients' success.

Julie Wright
President & Founder

Julie Wright has been president of (W)right On Communications since founding the agency in 1998.

Named one of 50 to Watch by a regional business magazine, Julie is Chair of the San Diego North Economic Development Council (EDC)’s Board of Directors; Co-chairs the Leadership North County Alumni Group; and is on the President’s Council of California State University San Marcos. Julie oversees all aspects of agency operations and provides account leadership to all (W)right On Communications’ client accounts drawing on her years of experience, industry connections and media relationships.

Formerly Director of Marketing for a major financial institution ($1 billion assets under management), Julie is deeply skilled at strategically managing the media from her earlier experience as a news anchor, and is responsible for resetting the industry bar for service and results. “To acknowledge her professional success and community involvement,” Julie was named to the San Diego Metropolitan (San Diego’s largest circulation business publication) seventh annual 40 Under Forty honor roll. She is also the only woman of the communication  industry to be named 2010 Woman Who Means Business Honoree by the region's premier business paper, the San Diego Business Journal.

Julie holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Journalism degrees.



Grant Wright

CEO & Managing Partner
 

Grant Wright has nearly 20 years senior management experience leading external affairs and business development for major American and Canadian corporations and their subsidiaries. With extensive skills in all aspects of communications including media, regulatory, governmental, community outreach and labor relation, he has also led major infrastructure project development; M&A due diligence and implementation management; marketing and brand development efforts; and strategic and business plan development for Fortune 500 companies as well as small to mid-level growth ventures.

 

Grant has been a recognized and sought after authority and speaker on public-private partnerships, a conference facilitator and national media spokesperson for a company of 62,000 employees and he maintains many personal relationships with local, state, provincial and federal policy makers.

 

Grant holds Bachelor of Science (biology) and MBA (marketing and finance) degrees. His professional involvement with corporate and not-for-profit association Boards of Directors is numerous. Privately Grant has been a volunteer soccer coach and youth mentor in his community; he is a commercial pilot licensed in both Canada and the USA where he also serves as Board Director & Past Chair of the Southern California Aviation Association.

 

Rebecca Chappell
Account Executive

Rebecca brings to (W)right On strong media relations capabilities as well as several years writing experience for numerous outlets including San Diego Magazine, Ranch & Coast, Metropolitan, Where, SD Daily Transcript and many others.

Rebecca also brings significant marketing experience with the San Diego Reader, and has been successfully engaged in the communication industry as Chair of the San Diego Press Club Excellence in Journalism Awards, and is a 2010 Society of Professional Journalists award winner for daily reporting and writing.

Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism degree from Point Loma Nazarene University.

 

Chancelor Shay
Account Executive
 

Account Executive Chancelor Shay contributes strong communication program leadership abilities with innovative ideas and a keen sense of market trends.

 

A bright and talented public relations professional, Chancelor’s experience includes developing and managing programs for technical B2B clients as well B2C and non-profit organizations such as the San Diego Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, where he helped develop a complete, low cost PR campaign, and hands-on experience working with the media for the 2009 NCAA Women’s Basketball tournament. Chancelor holds a Bachelor degree in Media Studies where he received Dean’s List and Civil Core academic honors. In addition to his studies and extracurricular activities, Chancelor remains involved in the community by assisting with fundraising for Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.

 

Maureen Legg
Account Executive
 

(W)right On’s Maureen Legg brings her trademark strategic communication skills to benefit the diverse marketing needs of our clients.

 

Throughout her 25-year marketing communications career, Maureen has consulted with clients throughout the Southern California region on a variety of marketing projects, from planning and strategy, advertising, promotions and publicity to copywriting and collateral production, direct mail and general marketing research. From hospitality to high tech, home builders and many other industries, Maureen has lent her expertise to a broad and diverse client base. Maureen has also been a contributing writer for various publications such as Copley News Service and frequently pens articles under clients’ byline for both regional and national publications.

 

Maureen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of San Diego, during which time she also studied abroad in Oxford, England.

Tomica Divic
Account Executive
 

Tomica Divic is (W)right On’s Vancouver-based account executive. She brings a well-rounded mix of international communications experience ranging from contract law in Europe to high-tech start-ups in Silicon Valley. A creative and forward-thinking communicator, Tomica previously led communications for Vancouver’s YWCA Career Zone where she was responsible for its marketing plan and managing its online, social media and community outreach targeting job-seekers. Tomica was formerly based in San Francisco where she was a senior PR associate for an agency specializing in consumer technology and entertainment start-ups including Atom Films, Meraki, DECA TV, Major League Gaming and others. Her media outreach for clients secured coverage from CNN and ABC News to the New York Times and People Magazine.

 

Tomica has a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in international business law from the Central European University and her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Zagreb School of Law. She practiced international corporate law in Croatia specializing in contracts and intellectual property for two years, serving financial institutions, pharmaceutical companies and Fortune 500 companies. Tomica speaks English, French and Croatian. Her interests include travel, film and guitar.

 

 

Audrey Patterson
Media Buyer
 

Audrey brings to the (W)right On team region wide media outlet familiarity and experience for effective media planning, negotiation and buying to ensure maximum value for this component of the marketing program. A former sales and marketing manager for 17 years with KGTV McGraw-Hill Broadcasting, Audrey has overall 30 years of experience in all traditional forms of media including television, radio, print, direct mail, outdoor, cinema and transit advertising in addition to ‘new’ mediums of Internet, social media, SEO and e-marketing.

 


Kevin O'Hara
Video Producer
 

An Emmy Award winning member of (W)right On's team, Kevin O'Hara brings over 18 years of experience in creating engaging video news releases, TV commercials, multi-camera live events and corporate videos, all for DVD and myriad web delivery channels.

 

Using the latest broadcast quality production and editing equipment located in (W)right On's San Diego headquarters, Kevin leads projects from pre- through post-production. Other awards Kevin has garnered for clients such as Callaway Golf, GE Capital, Qualcomm and Johnson & Johnson include an Aegis award as well as several Tellys. Kevin holds an Associate in Arts Degree and a Certificate of Achievement in Radio and Television.


Elyse Charlesworth
Account Coordinator

Elyse completed a Bachelor degree at San Diego State University's School of Journalism & Media Studies and has contributed to various clients' success at (W)right On since early 2011. She has also helped develop public relations for the Veterans Museum and Memorial Center, the strategic plan for the Fleet Reserve Association and research materials for the  Water Purification Demonstration Project.

 

Tressa Foster

Graphic Designer
 

Tressa Foster is a graduate of The Illinois Institute of Art specializing in Visual Communications, and has been a professional graphic designer since 1999. She previously worked as a graphic designer for an independent book publisher and a marketing communications firm. Tressa has a true passion for innovative design and uses her talents in combination with her education and experience to make her creative visions come to life. Tressa has advanced skills using the design industry’s leading computer programs and excellent knowledge of commercial offset printing processes. In addition to her technical skills, she keeps her design and marketing skills cutting-edge with her active involvement with The American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) and staying informed of digital graphics, fonts, and color trends through seminars and continuing education classes offered from Adobe and Dynamic Graphics Training.


 

Celia Creek

Senior Designer
 

Celia Creek brings over 20 years graphic design experience to (W)right On Communications. A graduate of the Art Institute of Seattle, Celia began her award winning career in graphic design and art direction at the Everett Herald. There, she was a marketing artist specializing in display advertisements, special section covers and various promotional communications under tight deadlines. She later joined the San Diego Union-Tribune where her continued success resulted in her eventually becoming Art Director responsible for news feature and advertising design, from concept to pre-press.

Through her ability to focus intently on clients' key messages, Celia combines her experience with confident placement of color, balance of elements, and strong copywriting skills to create exceptional outcomes. 


Andy Mansker

Web Development Manager
 

With experience working for such household brand name companies as American Airlines, Honda, Hewlett Packard and General Motors, Andy Mansker is instrumental in helping WOC's clients develop a professional internet presence as well as strong search engine placement to drive traffic. Keeping WOC and its clients on pace with ever-changing technology, Andy develops and implements solutions that may include database development, HTML, DHTML, PHP, Java, JavaScript, mySQL, PDF, animation, audio and video among many technologies.

Andy is very active in the community working with organizations including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Purple Heart Fund and the New Outlook Foundation.  


 

Jason Lancaster

Online Marketing Specialist
 

Responsible for helping ensure (W)right On clients' online presence is enhanced through the latest cost-effective strategies, analytics and measurement tools, Jason is an engineering school graduate with more than ten years post graduate marketing experience.
